@Krakerjax, as for the first and last questions:Anyone joining the military just to pay for college or because it's a tradition doesn't have a sound, reasonable mind anyway, so if it was those guys committing suicide, I'm not surprised. There's plenty of other ways to earn money and get respect from your family and continue family traditions without joining the military on a whim and then getting suicidal when things don't pan out when a war starts.You join the military to help the country and yourself for the two reasons you outlined in the other two questions, along with helping your colleagues.I'm not saying I don't support those that do join it for family/money reasons, or that these guys are the sole suicide attempts in the military, but I think it'd be much better for their mental health (whether they become suicidal or not) if they had a career they were truly suited to and wanted.

From a pragmatic viewpoint, then, our views really aren't that dissimilar. What I don't really understand is why the question of "Are we to blame?" really ***** matters. If you accept that even if we are to blame, there really isn't anything that can be done to undo the damage we've caused, is that really so different from saying that climate change is due to some unknown X factor?.

I see the usual round of condemnations from Arab and Muslim activists intended to pre-empt backlashFrankly, I find such condemnations to be self-serving, selfish, and low in credibility, because most of the time such activists mainly devote their efforts to demonizing and dehumanizing US servicemen for propaganda purposes. This is what gives the nutcases the psychological ammunition to go on killing sprees. This guy was a trained psychiatrist, and still he went on a killing spree. It shows the depth of the hate ideology being promoted by Muslim activists.And then these activists quickly want to turn the incident around to focus on how it will lead to more discrimination against them. How completely indecent. They don't even care to see any personal accountability or responsibility on their side.The values of self-criticism, personal responsibility and personal restraint are not equally distributed around the world. They are not equally distributed among all cultures - and the number of suicide attacks emanating from particular communities is ample proof of this. I don't see a lot of Tibetan suicide bombers blowing up Chinese army posts.?
