I guess that makes sense if you ran a 32 bit version of Vista. However, the 32 version was made knowing that most users would only have two gigabytes of ram and actually ran very well with those specs. They have done benchmarks of games comparing 32bit Vista with 2gb of ram and 64bit Vista with 4gb of ram to be equal in terms of performance. Your Alienware most likely had 2-4gb of ram which is more than enough to run 32bit Vista. Alienware is also known to have great hardware specs especially the video card. You most likely had a Direct X 10 video card and couldn't use that API due to using XP Professional.?
